Serve

114One of the best ways to get involved at St James and to meet new people is to join one of our serving teams. They're fun, rewarding and vital in how the Church is the Church!! You're also never too young so we love it when our kids and youth sign up too!

To register your interest about any of these teams, or something new you'd like to be involved in, click here to fill out this form.

Welcome Team

We love to give everyone who walks through the door of St James a warm welcome. Are you good with names and keen to make people feel at home? Join our welcome team.

Youth

We love Youth at St James! They meet on Thursday nights 6:30-8pm for games, tuck shop, sports, bible study and fun! And again on Sunday afternoons during the 4pm service. These youth events would not run without faithful , fun and committed volunteers. We also go into the local schools during the week! Get in touch with Lydia Courtney if you'd like to get involved!

Refreshments

We have plenty of food and cuppas on Sundays! Are you good with a toaster? Could you join our refreshments team and help set up and serve the refreshments? This team could be for you.

StJ Kids

At St James, we're privileged to have a lot of young families worshipping with us. We provide children's groups during both the morning and afternoon services and are often in need of an extra pair of hands. Do you have a passion for seeing children grow in relationship with Jesus? Are you prepared to have a lot of fun in the process? Join our team as a leader or helper by speaking to Janet w(info@stj.org.uk)

Worship Team

We love to worship God with music and singing at St James, and we're blessed to have skilled musicians leading us on Sundays. Do you feel called to serve God with your musical gifting? The worship team often lead at other churches or events around the city and in 2025, we released a new album, Cross and Resurrection. Speak to Worship Pastor, Oli about getting involved.

Tech/ Live Production

During our services at St James, we require a team to operate our technical equipment such as audio consoles, and our display software (ProPresenter), in order for our congregation to encounter Jesus through the times of worship and spoken word. Do you feel called to serve on this team? No experience is required and we will provide in-house training for those interested in serving on Production. Speak to Oli Rugg, to find out more information!

Media Team

Do you love getting great snaps of our church family? Photos are a great way to show what being part of StJ community looks like. Whether this be a Sunday service, Youth group, Minis or other events, the photography team would love to be a part of it! Contact Ben Whitehead at ben.whitehead@stj.org.uk for more information!

Building & Grounds Maintenance

St James Church is surrounded by quite extensive grounds, regularly used by the public. Our Church is used well during the week so we try our best to keep the inside and the outside looking tidy, litter to a minimum and the pathway clear and safe. Volunteers help us do this! (No gardening experience required). Or do you have a passion for Buildings and making them fit for purpose, then our Buildings Committee might be for you!

StJ Minis

Minis is on Thursday mornings and it's a place where babies and toddlers with their parents and guardians get looked after, have fun, chat and build community. We're always on the look out for extra helpers: set up, teas and coffees or chatting with parents and keeping an eye on the kids! Speak to Rachel Harley if you'd like to get involved!

Students

We love Students at St James in the City and are committed to helping them find a place in the local church. However, they do need feeding and looking out for so if you fancy cooking up a storm or being a student mentor, then let us know!

Liverpool Citizens Team

At St James we believe it's important for Christians to be seeking justice where we live, meeting people's needs and importantly changing/challenging unjust structures in society. Our Citizens team partners with the Liverpool Citizens Alliance to campaign for change in Liverpool. To get involved with campaigns and hear more, speak to any of the team!
